Due to the large volume of medals, we have been receiving, our mounters have chosen to cap the number of medals they accept per month. Orders are generally back 2 months after the month they were dropped off. For example, medals from June will be August, July will be September, etc. Our cut-off date for medals for Remembrance Day is 09 October. Medals dropped off before that will be back in time, medals dropped off after will not be. If you need your medals for a specific date, please let us know and we will try to accommodate that, or message you if we cannot.

Copper Memorial Collection by Sue Gibb

Military Background

Sue Gibb (Ottawa), CAF Veteran, served in the Communications and Electronics Branch as a ‘291’er’ - Communicator Research Operator - when women were first ‘accepted’ into the trade. Sworn in November 1983. Jan 1984 - Basic Training in Cornwallis followed by trades training at The Gloucester Building, B-69. Two further returns to B-69, and Sue was more than happy to leave morse code behind to become the first OJT-qualified female ‘SigDev’ specialist, by November 1989.

“Two Alert Tours, the second extended to eight months, allowed me to see one of the most amazing places on Earth. Postings to CFS Masset, Haida Gwaii BC, 770 CRS Sqn, Gander NL, and a few at CFS Leitrim ensured I saw Canada coast-to-coast-to-coast.”

Although Sue was extremely proud of her service and being a CAF member, she made a difficult decision, choosing FRP 94 and a return to civilian life.

Fast Forward 25 Years

Since June 2019, Sue has been designing and personally hand-crafting copper creations for homes and gardens. No electricity is involved in her craft. Truly HAND-crafted. Self-taught, she blends her passion for nature with her curiosity to create from sheet copper.

Known by many as the Dragonfly Lady, for her life-size Dragonflies and Butterflies, Sue produces each with uniquely coloured, hydro-dipped wings. She also creates Memorial Dragonflies and Butterflies with Crimson red wings. Her larger accent pieces incorporate Driftwood, Phyllite, Limestone, Granite, and River Stones

Over the last six years, Sue has expanded her product offerings. Ornaments such as Cardinals (New for 2025) and various floral designs; Poppies (Remembrance) and Poinsettias, among others, are customer favourites. Many customers have also taken part in her mobile workshops to create their own dragonflies!

“With my unique business, Hazy DayZ Dragonflies, we strives to bring peace, smiles, and joy to everyone we touch. Not many are able to experience such pleasure in their work. I am honoured to share this gift.”
